Synopsis
In the 1976 final of the Davis Cup between Italy and Chile, tennis player Adriano Panatta wore a red t-shirt and persuaded his partner Paolo Bertolucci to do the same. This was a significant gesture in General Pinochet's Chile; though perhaps more provocative than political. Director Mimmo Calopresti returns to the documentary format, filming Panatta as he recalls the two months prior to his consecration in the annals of world tennis and remembers the game played wearing the red t-shirt, shot in Super8 by Italians in the audience. The tennis player's words, together with archive footage of the demonstrations and debates raging on the radio, television and in the papers at that time, reconstruct the period's cultural and political climate in Italy, which questioned nationalistic rhetoric and indifference in sport.
